Let It Snow so we can have Hot Chocolate!

\
We had hardly any winter.  I love snow days as much today as I did as a kid.  It is so difficult to get a snow day here.  It just does not happen.  So I decided to make it more winter like in our classroom.  Our writing project would be describing a cup of hot chocolate.  We worked on adjectives and got pretty good at adding them and making our good papers great!  Of course, we had to have hot chocolate to drink too.  That is a given when I am involved.  Oh, did I tell you the best news????
We got snow!!!!! Not just a little snow either.  We missed two days (Thursday and Friday) because we got 12 inches of snow! This was one happy teacher.  I played with my daughter and had the best time.  Then, it was time to go back to reality.  Except, we got ANOTHER snow storm Sunday night.  We got 7 more inches of snow (better than the 18 predicted).  Two more snow days.  It was the best.  I had time to plan more activities and spend time with my family.  I loved it.  I know I will be inviting winter into my classroom every year just in case we had something to do with the storms.

Snowglobes Are Shaking Things Up

My kiddos have worked so hard to improve their writing skills.  I thought you would love seeing some of their creativity.  They really love to write and do not mind all the corrections and editing that has to be done when they know a craft is involved.  This time they created their snow globes.  They chose how many snowmen were in the globe and picked their favorite colors for scarves to keep them warm.  They are so talented!!!   They really work so hard and make me so proud.  I think even they are excited when they see their effort displayed for the entire school to see.
